One of Sicily's most unexpected and compelling sparkling wines. Terrazze dell'Etna was founded in 2008 by the Bevilacqua family through the painstaking restoration of ancient vineyards and stone terraces on the slopes of Mount Etna. Their sparkling program is equally serious — a Metodo Classico produced from Chardonnay vines grown in the Randazzo area on the northwest slope of the volcano, at altitudes between 750 and 950 metres, on lava-based soils of sand and volcanic rock.
The 2019 spent a minimum of 50 months aging on the lees before dégorgement — a timeline that rivals serious Champagne. The result is refined and well-balanced, with creamy foam, intense aromatic persistence, and a striking interplay of minerals and citrus on the finish. The minerality of the volcanic terroir, the altitude, and the sea air give this wine aromas genuinely unlike any other sparkling wine.
