2022 Albert Morot - Beaune Bressandes (750ml)
Domaine Albert Morot traces back to 1820, when Philibert Jacques Angélique Morot began selling wine as a négociant in Beaune. His descendants became producers in their own right in 1890, buying vineyard land cheaply during the phylloxera crisis, and the estate has stayed in family hands ever since. It is now run by Geoffroy Choppin de Janvry, who inherited it from his uncle, with winemaker Marie-Laure Morlot farming the vineyards organically.
Les Bressandes sits high on the slope on the northwestern edge of the Beaune appellation, just above Les Grèves, a site long known for giving wines extra roundness and richness. The domaine's parcel is farmed organically, hand-harvested, and vinified with traditional Burgundian methods. The wine is aged for about fourteen months in French oak, with roughly thirty percent new barrels.
The 2022 is fresh and firm, with abundant ripeness balancing its structure rather than overwhelming it. Spicy red and black fruit come through alongside a touch of violet, with enough grip to suggest real ageing potential, all carried with the elegance and precision this estate has become known for. It is opulent and intense yet remains smooth, seductive, and true to the site.
