Domaine Marquis d'Angerville has been rooted in Volnay for generations and was among the first estates in Burgundy to bottle its own wine, a practice virtually unheard of in the region before the mid-twentieth century. Now guided by the current Marquis d'Angerville, the estate farms its vineyards organically and biodynamically, favoring old vine selections and a minimalist hand in the cellar to let each site speak for itself, from village bottlings up through the estate's celebrated monopole, Clos des Ducs.

Caillerets is farmed with the same organic and biodynamic practices applied across the estate, hand-harvested and handled gently to preserve delicacy rather than power. The wine is aged with little new oak, keeping the emphasis on the vineyard's limestone soils and fine-grained fruit rather than on winemaking technique.

The wine shows wild strawberry and rose petal, with a cool, mineral thread of crushed limestone running throughout. Light on its feet yet layered, it has a silky texture and fine, precise structure that unfolds slowly in the glass. It pairs nicely with poached salmon, grilled quail, or a soft cow's-milk cheese.

93-95 Points
" A much spicier and more floral nose combines aromas of lavender, violet and exotic tea with those of black currant and poached plum. The lacy, delineated and more mineral-driven flavors are also delicate while retaining excellent punch and drive on the balanced, firm and classy finale. This is classic Caillerets that should also amply repay extended keeping."
