A classic, structured village Gevrey from one of the appellation's most respected small estates, farmed sustainably from limestone-soil parcels in Les Crais. Partial whole-cluster fermentation and extended barrel aging draw out the dark, brooding character Sylvie Esmonin is known for — deep ruby-garnet color, layered aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant and black cherry, with savory notes of mushroom, undergrowth, and leather underneath. The palate shows real structure: fine, present tannins fully integrated after 20 months in barrel, framed by spice and toast. A wine built for the cellar with up to a decade of aging potential, but already showing the poise and precision that separates village-level Esmonin from the crowd.

90-92 Points
"The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, raised in 20% to 30% new oak, has a cohesive bouquet, focused and delineated. It is not complex yet has attractive black cherry and light boysenberry fruit. The medium-bodied palate has fine tannins and plenty of energy with a bright, sorbet-fresh finish that lingers in the mouth."
