Clos de la Bataillère is one of the most distinctive holdings in Domaine Albert Morot's collection of Beaune-area vineyards. This monopole, spanning close to two hectares, occupies east-facing slopes within the Vergelesses climat, overlooking the hill of Corton in Savigny-lès-Beaune. The estate has controlled this parcel for generations, and the site was already recognized as a top-tier climat by nineteenth-century classifiers of Burgundy's vineyards.

In 2023, the fruit was entirely destemmed and fermented using native yeasts, with gentle extraction preserving the wine's aromatic detail before aging in barrel, roughly 30 percent new oak. The result is a Pinot Noir marked by ripeness and concentration, with forward aromas of blackberry and ripe plum layered with violets, earth, and a whisper of smoke. On the palate, dense extract and firm tannins give the wine real structure, carrying through to a lingering finish.

Grown organically, this Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru rewards patience in the cellar and should continue developing well for years to come. It pairs naturally with stewed meats, game, or aged cheeses.
