2023 Benjamin Leroux - Bourgogne Blanc (750ml)
Benjamin Leroux began his own label in 2007 after years as régisseur at Domaine du Comte Armand, starting with a tiny sliver of Bâtard-Montrachet and an early focus on Meursault. The négociant house has since grown into one of the Côte d'Or's most closely watched addresses, now producing more than fifty cuvées from eight hectares of estate vines and another twenty farmed under long-term contracts, many of them paid by the plot rather than by weight to keep control over ripeness and yield firmly in Leroux's hands.
This Bourgogne Blanc draws mainly on his own Meursault parcels, including Les Millerands and Sous la Velle, with a small addition of Hautes-Côtes de Beaune fruit for extra lift in a warm year. The wine is fermented and aged in large-format oak and foudres, with new wood kept below fifteen percent, letting the underlying sites speak through a modest regional label.
The nose shows citrus zest, almond blossom, and wet limestone. The palate is finely tuned, with pear and lemon curd framed by saline minerality and a silky texture, carried by bright, mouthwatering acidity. Pair it with steamed mussels, grilled sea bass, or mildly spiced Asian noodles.
