Domaine Charles Audoin was founded in 1972 in Marsannay-la-Côte by Charles and Marie-Françoise Audoin, starting from just three hectares of vines. Under Cyril Audoin, who took over the estate in 2000, the domaine has grown to fourteen hectares across the Côte de Nuits, earning organic certification and a reputation as one of the driving forces behind Marsannay's rise as a serious appellation. The family built a new, purpose-designed winery to match its increasingly precise approach in both vineyard and cellar.

Though labeled simply Bourgogne Rouge, this wine is effectively a declassified Marsannay, made from Pinot Noir grown on younger vines within the appellation's village sites. Fermentation is gentle, with careful extraction and no new oak, letting the fruit and the site speak clearly rather than layering on structure or weight.

The result is a bright, energetic red with sour cherry and plum notes, a savory whisper of dried herbs, and a barely medium body that stays lively through to an elegant, faintly earthy finish. It suits lighter fare like duck breast, grilled salmon, or a simple charcuterie spread, and drinks well slightly chilled.
