2023 Coquard Loison Fleurot - Bourgogne Rouge (750ml)

Domaine Coquard Loison-Fleurot is based in Flagey-Échézeaux and brings together several family names working across vineyard, cellar, and sales. After years spent selling grapes to négociants, the estate began bottling under its own label in 2009 and 2010, and has since built a strong reputation across twelve appellations, six of them grand cru. Thomas Colladot, born into the Coquard side of the family, makes the wine, while Claire Fleurot runs the commercial side of the operation.

This Bourgogne Rouge comes from the domaine's own vines in Flagey-Échézeaux, with no fruit purchased from outside growers. Most of the parcels were planted back in the 1950s and are farmed along organic lines, giving the wine a sense of concentration unusual for a regional appellation. Vinification stays traditional and hands-off, letting the old vines carry the wine's character.

The nose mixes red and black fruit with a faint savory edge of black olive, while the palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins that soften into a silky, perfumed finish of wild strawberry. It has enough structure to pair with grilled quail, beef stew, or a firm aged cheddar.
