2023 Domaine Lafouge - Auxey Duresses Parapelle BLANC (750ml)

Domaine Lafouge has farmed in Auxey-Duresses since 1650, making it one of the oldest family estates in the village. Gilles Lafouge now represents the sixth generation, working alongside his son Maxime across roughly ten hectares that include several of the commune's finest premier crus, along with small parcels reaching into neighboring Meursault and Pommard. The family has built a quiet but devoted following for wines that favor freshness and precision over sheer weight.

La Parapelle sits in the upper section of the Les Duresses climat, a stretch so steep it cannot be worked by tractor and that stood unplanted until 2018, when the Lafouges put in Chardonnay on soils Gilles compares to Meursault's Perrières. This side of the hill leans closer to Puligny in style than the richer, more Meursault-like slopes across the village, giving the family a genuinely new expression within their range.

Coming from young vines, the wine is vibrant and citrus-driven, light on its feet with a distinct mineral cut and a pithy, energetic finish that should gain length as the vines mature. White flowers and baked apple round out the aromatics. Pair it with roast chicken, cured meats, or a mild cheese.
