The 2023 Raquillet Mercurey Vasees delivers the authentic character of the Côte Chalonnaise terroir directly from Burgundy. This vintage highlights the crisp minerality and red fruit profiles expected from the region's premier villages, prioritizing freshness over heavy extraction.

Tasting Profile
Expect a vibrant introduction dominated by red currants and wild cherries, layered with subtle notes of violet and forest floor. The palate maintains a lean, energetic structure with fine-grained tannins that provide grip without overwhelming the delicate fruit. Finish notes of slate and mild spice persist long after the sip, indicating clear lineage and disciplined winemaking.

Food Pairing Recommendations
Due to its medium weight and lively acidity, this wine bridges simple rustic fare and refined European cuisine. It excels with roasted duck confit, braised beef bourguignon, or grilled venison loins. Mushroom-centric dishes, including risottos or pasta with truffle oil, complement the earthy undertones effectively.
Serving Details
Ideally, serve at 14°C to 16°C (57°F–61°F). Pour into a wide-bowled glass to aerate the nose gently. Each bottle contains 750ml of liquid, appropriate for sharing among two to three guests at a table setting.

90 Points
"This is aromatically relatively similar to the Clos du Paradis but with a broader range of spice nuances and in particular anise. The succulent, round and equally suave medium weight flavors possess both fine volume and a highly seductive mouthfeel before culminating in a bitter pit fruit and youthfully austere finale. This could use better depth so in contrast to several of the preceding wines, this does need to be cellared for at least a few years."
