Whitehall Lane has been one of Napa and Sonoma's most reliably quality-driven estates since the Leonardini family took ownership in 1993, farming over 140 acres across eight vineyards spanning both appellations. The Rassi is their Sonoma statement — sourced from a 16-acre hillside parcel on the eastern slope of Sonoma Valley at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains, planted in gravel-rich soils with ideal afternoon sun exposure for Cabernet Sauvignon. The property traces its history to an 1864 land grant from General Vallejo, and was tended for decades by the Duncan-Rassi family before the Leonardinis acquired it in 2012.

The 2023 is a beautifully blended, exquisitely balanced Cabernet with excellent fruit concentration from start to finish. The nose offers fresh blueberry pie, blackberries, Mission figs, lavender, and a touch of toasted bread. On the palate, smooth but delicate tannins frame a core of blackberry cobbler, stewed black plums, black cherries, and toasted walnuts that linger well into the finish. Generous enough to open tonight, structured enough to reward a few years in the cellar.
