2024 Alain Hudelot-Noellat - Nuits St. Georges Murgers (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]
Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat's reputation rests on a minimal-intervention philosophy that Charles van Canneyt has carried forward since taking over from his grandfather Alain in 2008. Fermentation relies on indigenous yeasts, and the wines go unfined and unfiltered, a practice meant to preserve each vineyard's individual character rather than smooth it over. That same care extends across the estate's full range, from village bottlings up through its most prestigious Grand Cru sites.
Les Murgers sits in the northern reaches of Nuits-Saint-Georges, close to the Vosne-Romanée border, on shallow, stony soils that tend to produce some of the appellation's richer, more structured wines. It typically shows more weight and depth than the domaine's other Nuits-Saint-Georges bottlings, a reflection of the site's naturally concentrated character. As with the rest of the estate's holdings, the fruit is hand-harvested and aged in barrel for roughly a year and a half before bottling.
Expect cassis and red fruit compote layered with potpourri, spice, and a savory, smoked edge. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with a deep core of fruit, structured tannins, and ripe acidity carrying through a long finish. It pairs well with smoked brisket, hearty beef stew, or aged Gouda.
