Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat has earned repeated acclaim in the Guide Hachette for its Vosne-Romanée bottlings, Malconsorts among them, recognized for the way a great terroir meets a skilled hand. Alain Hudelot founded the estate in 1962, and his grandson, Charles van Canneyt, has run it since 2008, continuing a style defined by purity and restraint rather than raw power. The domaine's Vosne-Romanée holdings sit alongside its more famous Grand Cru sites, treated with the same meticulous, low-yield approach.

Les Malconsorts lies right on the border with Nuits-Saint-Georges, immediately next to La Tâche, a position many Burgundy lovers consider a Grand Cru in all but name. The domaine's vines here are roughly seventy years old, and the resulting wine is typically the most reserved Premier Cru in the cellar, needing time in the glass to fully unwind and show its full character.
