Park Avenue Estate stands apart within Mark Aubert's portfolio as one of the properties farmed entirely under estate ownership, rather than through the long term grower relationships that supply much of the rest of the range. Aubert built his reputation on obsessive, site specific Chardonnay after learning the craft under Helen Turley in the late 1980s, and Park Avenue reflects that same instinct for total control, from the vineyard through to the finished wine. It has quickly become one of the more powerful, mineral driven expressions in the estate's lineup.

Growing and Production

Because the fruit is sourced entirely from Aubert owned vines, the estate has complete oversight of farming decisions at Park Avenue, from canopy management to the timing of harvest. As with the rest of the Aubert portfolio, the wine is made with a hands off approach in the cellar, favoring native fermentation and minimal manipulation so the site's particular mineral character can express itself clearly. The result over recent vintages has consistently been a denser, more powerful style compared to some of the estate's other Sonoma Coast Chardonnays.

Tasting Notes

The 2024 vintage opens with raw hazelnut, gunflint, and orchard fruit aromas, along with tangerine confit, white flowers, slate, and a cooling touch of mint. The palate carries a glycerin like richness balanced by terrific acidity and lift, finishing deep, potent, and remarkably transparent. It pairs beautifully with roasted halibut, buttery lobster, or a rich chicken in cream sauce.

98 Points
"The 2024 Chardonnay Park Avenue Estate is sourced entirely from estate fruit and already shows impressive complexity. Raw hazelnut, gunflint, and orchard fruit aromas lead into a palate that combines glycerin-like richness with terrific acidity and lift. Full-bodied and concentrated, it nevertheless maintains outstanding balance and weightlessness. Deeply layered and remarkably long, it carries substantial intensity without ever becoming sweet or heavy. Drink 2026-2040."
