2024 Cakebread - Chardonnay Napa Valley (750ml)
"The 1973 Napa Valley Cakebread Chardonnay was the very first wine we released, and we've been fine-tuning it ever since." — Jack Cakebread. That half-century of focus shows in every bottle.
Grapes come from the world-famous Carneros appellation in southern Napa Valley, just north of San Pablo Bay, whose cool, windswept conditions produce Chardonnay with ideal balance between fruit character and acidity. Soils are predominantly Haire Loam, a light clay that helps vines naturally regulate vigor for fruit of intense concentration. Grapes were harvested by night in small batches, then pressed as whole clusters before fermenting in French oak barrels. The wine was aged on its yeast lees for nine months with intermittent stirring to enhance texture and boost complexity.
Bright, creamy aromas of golden apple, white peach, pear, and melon, with hints of mineral, yeast, and oak spice. Rich and full-bodied on the palate, refreshed by vibrant citrus and mineral tones — concentrated, rich, and ripe in style with fresh acidity and impeccable balance.
One of Napa's most consistent and beloved Chardonnays. Drink now or cellar for up to 5–7 years.
