2024 Castellare - Chianti Classico (750ml)
Castellare di Castellina took its current form in 1968 through the merger of several historic estates in the Chianti Classico commune of Castellina, and remains one of the appellation's benchmark, traditionally-styled producers, built almost entirely on Sangiovese (locally called Sangioveto) with a touch of Canaiolo. Fermented in steel and aged roughly seven months in large oak botti, a classic approach that has never chased the international-varietal trend seen elsewhere in Chianti since the 1990s. The 2024 shows real elegance, aromatic and light on its feet, with a multilayered nose of violets, licorice, graphite, rose, and red cherry, a tight, structured palate with bright acidity and a light body. A genuine, transparent expression of the appellation's traditional style, versatile enough for lasagna, ragù, or braised meats.
