2024 Domaine de la Folie - Rully Blanc CLOS LA FOLIE
Domaine de la Folie has tended the hillsides around its château in Rully for several generations, cultivating a vineyard considered emblematic of the appellation. The estate favors meticulous, low-intervention work in both vineyard and cellar, aiming to preserve the natural purity of Chardonnay and let each parcel's particular character come through clearly rather than imposing a heavy winemaking hand.
Clos la Folie is the domaine's monopole, a walled plot of just under two hectares sitting at the foot of the château on clay-limestone soils with a north-northeast exposure. The vines here average forty years of age. Grapes are pressed at low pressure, settled with care, and fermented without any added sulfur before aging in tank rather than barrel, a method chosen to keep the wine fresh and true to its fruit.
The wine shows a luminous golden color with white flowers, citrus, and fresh hazelnut on the nose. The palate is precise and balanced, carrying real mineral tension through to a pure, clean finish with a subtle buttery touch. Serve it with poached turbot, roasted poultry in cream sauce, or fresh langoustines.
