2024 Domaine Fevre - Chablis Beauroy (750ml) (PRE ARRIVAL)
Domaine William Fèvre is one of Chablis's pioneering estates, long known for its historic vineyard holdings and its meticulous, gravity-fed approach in the cellar that avoids pumping the wine at any stage. In 2024 the domaine came under the ownership of Domaines Barons de Rothschild, the family behind Château Lafite, while retaining longtime technical director Didier Séguier, the steady hand behind the house's refined, precise style. The new ownership has stated its intent to preserve the winemaking traditions that built Fèvre's reputation.
Beauroy is one of the main Premier Cru sites on the Serein's left bank, and Fèvre's small parcel sits within the Les Troësmes climat, facing south and southeast on clay-limestone soils near the man-made Étang de Beine, originally built to protect the hillside from frost. The 2024 vintage was marked by historically low yields, only ten to eleven hectoliters per hectare, after a hailstorm struck the left bank in May, but the fruit that did ripen shows unusual concentration.
The wine carries white peach, quinine, and citrus confit, with a touch of exotic character. The palate is rich, dense, and powerful, closing on a sappy, bright, firm finish. Pair it with pan-seared halibut, chicken fricassee, or a young Chabichou.
