2024 Domaine Fevre - Chablis Bougros Cote Bouguerots (750ml) (PRE ARRIVAL)
William Fèvre's descendants have worked in Chablis for nearly three centuries, but it was William himself who built the modern domaine starting in the late 1950s. When the Henriot family, also owners of Maison Bouchard Père et Fils, took over in 1998, they pushed the estate toward hand harvesting, careful sorting, and sparing use of new oak, favoring stainless steel to let the Chablis terroir speak without added wood character. Didier Séguier has overseen winemaking through that transition and the estate's more recent sale to Domaines Barons de Rothschild.
Côte de Bouguerots is the steepest sliver of the Bougros climat, a south-facing slope inclined at more than thirty percent along the Serein, where tractors would be too dangerous to use and the entire 2.2-hectare parcel is worked by hand. The river's cooling influence keeps this site markedly different from the rounder, more opulent character typical of the rest of Bougros. Hail losses limited 2024 yields here to just 9.5 hectoliters per hectare.
The wine shows iodine, quinine, oyster shell, and lemon-lime layered over white orchard fruit. The palate is sleek, intense, and borderline thick, with real power balanced by youthful austerity. Pair it with seared tuna, veal chop, or Tomme des Bauges.
