Domaine William Fèvre stands as the largest Grand Cru landowner in Chablis, farming seventy-eight hectares in total, including fifteen hectares of Grand Cru and sixteen of Premier Cru vineyards. The estate has pursued a serious environmental program for more than two decades, earning HVE3 certification back in 2014, and continues to aim for wines that showcase the subtle differences between Chablis's individual climats rather than a single house style.

The domaine's 2.24 hectares in Montée de Tonnerre span three separate lieux-dits: Pied d'Aloup, Chapelot, and Côte de Bréchain, home to the estate's oldest vines in this cru, planted back in 1936. Hail losses cut 2024 yields here to roughly five hectoliters per hectare, an extreme scarcity that concentrated the fruit considerably. The wine is typically raised first in oak, then finished for several months in stainless steel.

The 2024 opens with apple blossom, yellow fruit, and honeysuckle, echoing notes of salinity, bread dough, and stone fruit. The palate is well balanced with real poise, generous yet spice-driven, closing on a trace of lemongrass. Pair it with grilled swordfish, veal scallopini, or young Camembert.

91-93 Points
"The 2024 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru is not dissimilar on the nose to Les Lys this year. It's airy with apple blossom, hints of yellow fruit and honeysuckle opening nicely in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with fine poise and weight..."
