Vaulorent sits on the grand cru hillside rather than the Fourchaume slope it is technically part of, and Domaine William Fèvre is by far its largest owner, holding roughly 3.6 hectares across eight plots, more than a fifth of the entire appellation. Winemaker Didier Séguier treats it as one of the high points of his range, reserving his best old-vine parcels for this bottling. Hail cut 2024 yields so severely here that Séguier remarked the hardest part would simply be finding any wine to bottle.

The vineyard borders the Grand Cru Les Preuses directly and shares its chalky, Kimmeridgian marl subsoil, which gives Vaulorent a density and structure that often rivals Fèvre's actual Grand Cru bottlings. The grapes are hand-harvested from these old vines and vinified with the same careful, low-intervention approach used across the estate's top cuvées.

The 2024 is rich and dense, with remarkable mineral freshness carrying lemon peel and nectarine alongside oyster shell and chalk. The texture is creamy, and the finish runs long. Serve it with baked sea bream, herb-crusted chicken thighs, or young Munster.

92-95 Points
"In much the same fashion as the Montmains, the nose makes clear that this could only be from Chablis with its nose of quinine, petrol, mineral reduction, tidal pool and oyster shell. There is outstanding volume, mid-palate density and power to the beautif..."
