2024 Francois Carillon - Bourgogne Blanc Cote D'Or (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]
The Carillon family has tended vines in Puligny-Montrachet for nearly five hundred years, with records tracing Jean Carillon's work there back to 1520. François began working the family vineyards alongside his father, Louis, and brother, Jacques, in 1988, and when the estate split between the two brothers in 2010, he founded his own domaine in the heart of the village. His sons, Mathis and Paul, have recently joined full time, continuing a lineage that now spans sixteen hectares across Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Saint-Aubin.
This regional bottling draws on a handful of clay-limestone plots split between Puligny-Montrachet and neighboring Meursault, planted with vines in their prime, decades old. The 2024 harvest came earlier than usual, picked in the first two weeks of September by a team of fifty. Grapes were pressed immediately on arrival, the juice chilled before fermentation, and the wine aged mostly in 350-liter barrels with a small portion of new oak.
Expect ripe yellow fruit and a mineral-tinged freshness that carries the wine through a clean, well-balanced finish, with the acidity and tension typical of Carillon's Puligny-trained hand. Pair it with grilled prawns, herb-roasted chicken breast, or Saint-Nectaire.
