2024 Jean-Marc Boillot - Puligny Montrachet (750ml)
Jean-Marc Boillot spent thirteen vintages working at his family's domaine before leaving in 1984, determined to make richer, more concentrated wines than the house style at the time allowed. He then spent four years as winemaker for Olivier Leflaive while bottling a small parcel of vines under his own name, work that impressed his grandfather, Henri Boillot, enough to bequeath him half his holdings. He later inherited additional vineyards from his maternal grandfather, Étienne Sauzet, and built his domaine around a cellar in Pommard, where he now works alongside his children, Lydie and Benjamin.
This bottling is drawn from several village-level parcels within Puligny-Montrachet, planted on the appellation's classic limestone and clay soils. The vines average thirty five to fifty years of age, and the wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation before resting on its lees for about eleven months in barrel, with only a modest portion of new oak used to preserve the site's natural clarity.
The wine pours a bright golden yellow and opens with aromas of peach, citrus, and a touch of warm spice. The palate is rounded and generous, carrying ripe orchard fruit through to a persistent, well balanced finish that reflects the polish this domaine is known for.
