Lohsa Morellino di Scansano DOCG 2024 comes from Poliziano, the celebrated Tuscan estate founded in Montepulciano in 1961 and long regarded as a benchmark producer of Vino Nobile. With the Lohsa project, the Carletti family extended that same Sangiovese expertise to the coastal Maremma, where the grape is known locally as Morellino.

This 2024 vintage is a blend of Sangiovese and Canaiolo, fermented in stainless steel and aged partly in large oak barrels and partly in steel for roughly eight months before a brief rest in bottle. The result is an open, charming bouquet built around ripe cherries, red woodland berries, and a touch of pomegranate, layered with the balsamic and herbal nuances typical of the Maremma, including hints of Mediterranean scrub and dried thyme, along with a subtle mineral note reminiscent of warm stone. A delicate violet note lends further lift to the aromatics.

On the palate, this Morellino di Scansano shows fine, silky tannins and a medium body that carries real drinkability from first sip to last. Bright acidity keeps the fruit fresh rather than jammy, making it a versatile match for grilled meats, tomato-based pasta, and semi-aged cheeses. Serve at cool room temperature and pour generously; this is a wine built for the table, not the cellar.
