2024 Pieropan - Soave Classico Superiore La Rocca (750ml)

Leonildo "Nino" Pieropan produced the first vintage of La Rocca in 1978 — the first oaked expression of Garganega ever sold commercially — proving that native Italian whites could compete with the likes of Burgundy. Today sons Andrea and Dario carry that legacy forward from the same five-hectare hillside site above the medieval village of Soave. After a brief maceration, the must ferments at controlled temperature in barrel and ages in wood for about twelve months on noble lees, building complexity and richness. The 2024 shows the signature La Rocca profile: sunny golden color with a rich, broad bouquet of ripe melon and mango with a light spicy undertone, and a full, round, velvety palate with perfect balance between fruit and acidity
