Domaine Vincent Dauvissat traces its origins to Robert Dauvissat, who began the estate nearly a century ago, with his son René building its reputation as one of Chablis's finest addresses. Vincent joined his father in the cellar in the 1970s and has since carried the family name to even greater renown, farming around twelve hectares that include some of the region's most coveted sites, from the grand crus of Les Clos and Les Preuses down to village Chablis and Petit Chablis.

La Forest sits on Kimmeridgian limestone with a full southern exposure, and though officially a premier cru, it is often spoken of in the same breath as Dauvissat's grand crus for its density and depth. The grapes are pressed whole-cluster to preserve natural acidity, then fermented slowly in enamel-lined vats before the wine moves into aged oak barrels, where it rests for at least a year, a small portion of which is renewed each vintage, in keeping with the domaine's patient, traditional approach.

The wine shows aromas of lemon zest, grapefruit, and white flowers, joined by hints of oyster shell and orange blossom. The palate is dense and textured, with a signature lanolin-like richness balanced by bright salinity and firm acidity through a long, layered finish.

92-95 Points
"Like the prior two wines, the expressive and distinctly cool nose freely announces that this could be from nowhere else but a wine made from vines grown on Kimmeridgian soil with its notes of mineral reduction, petrol, shellfish and iodine. The strikingly rich broad-shouldered flavors possess imposing size, weight and power while flashing a borderline aggressive minerality on the hugely long, balanced and built-to-age finale. I have seen close to 40 vintages of the Dauvissat La Forest and while it of course remains to be seen, 2024 could be one of the all-time great years for it, right up there with the amazing 2008 and 2014. Otherwise expressed, if you can find it, buy it. "
