Casa Jipi, pronounced "Hippie," began as a creative response to times of crisis, bringing together two families, two wineries, and two valleys in Baja California. The project joins Rancho Llano Colorado, a sought-after grape grower, with Vinícola Bruma and winemaker Lourdes "Lulu" Martínez Ojeda. Martínez Ojeda spent nearly a decade at Château Brane-Cantenac in Bordeaux before returning to her hometown of Ensenada, where she also worked for Bodegas Lurton.

The Casa Jipi Nebbiolo is made entirely from Nebbiolo grown at Rancho Llano Colorado in the Valle de San Vicente, within Baja California's Guadalupe Valley wine region. The grapes are fermented at low temperatures to preserve freshness and bright fruit. The wine is then aged for nine months in stainless steel tanks, a departure from the oak traditionally used for Nebbiolo in Piedmont. The result is a modern, unoaked take on the grape.

Ripe raspberry, strawberry, and red cherry mingle with fresh rose, sandalwood, blood orange peel, and a touch of menthol. Tannins are restrained and the color is richer than many Piedmontese examples, giving the wine a fresh, lively character. It is an approachable Nebbiolo that drinks especially well with a slight chill.
