The Von Neipperg Family, a history intertwined with winegrowing

Stephan von Neipperg is the guardian of some 800 years of winemaking tradition, and today manages with passion and talent the various Bordeaux estates acquired by his father in 1971: Château Canon La Gaffelière and La Mondotte, 1er Grands Crus Classés B de Saint-Emilion, Clos de l'Oratoire, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé, Clos Marsalette, Pessac-Léognan, and Château d'Aiguilhe, Castillon - Côte de Bordeaux.

Ably assisted by a team of professionals, he has brought the wines from these châteaux to the pinnacle of quality. The upcoming generation, also deeply attached to the terroir, is preparing to perpetuate the family vocation...!

Château Canon La Gaffelière, pure elegance and finesse
Located on the foot of Saint-Emilion’s southern slope, Château Canon La Gaffelière's terroir is made of clay-limestone and clay-sand soil, a very permeable soil and particularly efficient at retaining heat. The choice of grape varieties is rather atypical for the appellation in light of the soil: almost a perfect 50/50 divided between Merlot and Cabernet. The Cabernets ripen early and remarkably well on Canon La Gaffelière's warm soil, adding power and aromatic complexity to Merlot's opulence to create wines of natural elegance and finesse.

94-96 Points
"The 2025 Canon La Gaffelière is bright and beautifully focused right out of the gate. Orange peel, sage, mint, pipe tobacco, dried flowers and mocha soar out of the glass. Floral aromatics and brisk saline notes are the signatures in a tightly wound Canon La Gaffelière that is going to need a number of years to be at its most expressive. I especially admire the energy here. "
