Cloudy Bay was established in 1985 and quickly became the wine that put New Zealand on the international map, remaining one of the country's most recognized producers to this day. The estate is a member of Appellation Marlborough Wine, a group dedicated to protecting the regional identity of Marlborough wines, and this release marks the forty-first vintage of the winery's flagship Sauvignon Blanc, a milestone built on decades of consistency in the vineyard and cellar.

The 2025 growing season tested that consistency in a new way. An exceptional flowering in early December produced the largest bunches the winery had seen in years, which meant a longer, slower ripening period than usual. Rather than rushing the harvest, the team held off picking to let the fruit develop fully, with a cool stretch early in the year followed by warmer conditions closer to harvest. The result is fruit picked at a considered pace, honoring the patience the vintage demanded.

The glass shows an expressive nose of peach, elderflower, makrut lime, and fresh lemon. On the palate, lemon curd and white nectarine unfold alongside a saline, coastal freshness, carried by bright citrus acidity to a long, poised finish. This is a natural companion for fresh seafood, grilled vegetables, or dishes with a touch of spice.

93 Points
"Concentrated and fragrant, with lemongrass, lemon verbena and celery salt notes to complement the pineapple, mango and lemon curd flavors, plus a touch of orange sherbet. Gains momentum on the long, expressive finish."
