2022 Elouan - Pinot Noir Oregon (750ml)
2022 Elouan Pinot Noir from Oregon blends fruit from three premier western maritime regions—Willamette, Umpqua, and Rogue Valleys—into a single, expressive bottle. This approach, rooted in Joseph Wagner’s signature blending across appellations, captures the cool, sun‑bright character that Oregon Pinot Noir can deliver while weaving in distinct regional textures for complexity.
The 2022 vintage opened with a cool, wet spring that delayed flowering, followed by warm summer days and cool nights that allowed for slow ripening and vibrant acidity. Dry weather through mid‑October gave the fruit extra time to develop its flavors, contributing energy and balance to the final wine.
In the cellar, the grapes were destemmed, given an extended cold soak, and fermented using both punch down and pump over methods before aging ten months in a mix of new and seasoned French oak. The result is a wine that shows depth and refinement without losing the bright, fresh character that Pinot Noir from this region is known for.
Tasting notes
Rich ruby in color, the wine offers aromas of ripe cranberry and fresh Bing cherry with a subtle earthiness. On the palate, red plum and bright cherry flavors emerge, complemented by vanilla, spice, and dusty earth. Soft, refined tannins provide lift and structure, making this Pinot Noir approachable now while also capable of ageing gracefully for a few years.
