2025 Patricia Green - Pinot Noir Reserve Willamette Valley (750ml)
Patty Green and Jim Anderson met at Torii Mor Winery in Dundee, where Green was the first winemaker. In 2000 they bought the former Autumn Wind estate, 52 acres in what is now the Ribbon Ridge AVA, and founded Patricia Green Cellars. Its oldest vines date to 1984, among the oldest in the appellation. Green died in 2017, and Anderson carries on their shared work. The winery is known for bottling an unusually large number of individual Pinot Noirs, often twenty or more in a vintage.
The name “Reserve” goes back to the winery’s start, when the Willamette Valley name still meant little to many buyers. Green and Anderson wanted to signal that this was more than a basic regional bottling. The 2025 blends fruit from eight of the winery’s vineyards, including its Ribbon Ridge estate, Freedom Hill and Chehalem Mountain. These sites are farmed organically and without irrigation. Whole clusters are used or not depending on the vineyard, from fully destemmed lots to whole-cluster ferments. The wine ages fifteen months in barrel, about a third of them new.
The 2025 is bright ruby, with dark cherry, black raspberry, licorice and resinous herbs. It’s fuller and earthier than recent vintages, with deeper structure, and it rewards a little patience. Serve it with grilled salmon, duck or wild mushrooms.
