2020 The Calling - Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley
The Calling Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley is a collaborative expression born from a shared passion for Sonoma County fruit and value. Sourced exclusively from Alexander Valley, a warm pocket of Sonoma just south of Calistoga where the Russian River moderates daytime heat and alluvial soils suit Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine aims to reflect a single site's character rather than blending broadly across the county.
Winemaking
Grapes were hand sorted and gently crushed, then underwent natural yeast fermentation in barrel with an extended maceration period to soften the tannin structure. The finished wine rested in barrel for eighteen months before bottling, allowing the fruit and tannins to harmonize with the oak’s spice and vanilla notes.
Aromas, Flavor & Finish
In the glass, the wine presents a deep cherry red hue. Aromas unfold with black fruit, toasted spice, blackcurrant, and dark chocolate. On the palate, ripe blackberry pie mingles with black pepper, vanilla, and cinnamon, supported by soft, silky tannins and a long, lingering finish.
