2021 Luke Wines - Cabernet Sauvignon Wahluke Slope (750ml)
2021 Luke Wines Cabernet Sauvignon – Wahluke Slope
Luke Wines’ flagship Cabernet Sauvignon for the 2021 vintage is a collaborative expression drawn from trusted Wahluke Slope sites—Weinbau, Stone Tree, Northridge, and Ravenscliff. Founded in 2012 by Thomas and Kristin Vogele, Luke Wines has grown from a small first release into one of Washington’s most dynamic labels, with this Cabernet continuing to define the winery’s signature style.
Situated in the Columbia Valley, the Wahluke Slope AVA is defined by its broad, south-facing hill and deep, sandy soils, paired with one of the region’s hottest, driest climates. Strong summer winds naturally reduce cluster size and leaf cover, concentrating flavors and giving the wine its expressive depth. After aging in a mix of French and American oak, the 2021 vintage is approachable with a relatively brief cellar period to allow its structure and fruit to harmonize.
Tasting notes
- Aromas: marionberry and dark chocolate layered with mint and a touch of molasses.
- Palate: coffee-kissed blackberry and currant flavors supported by polished tannins, cedar, and a subtle hint of smoke.
Food pairings
Best enjoyed with bolder, flavorful dishes—grilled burgers, roasted lamb, or aged Gouda—where the wine’s fruit density and savory notes can complement and elevate the meal.
Why it stands out
This Cabernet Sauvignon captures Luke Wines’ commitment to site-driven complexity and balance, marrying fruit-forward intensity with refined oak integration. It reflects the Wahluke Slope’s sun-soaked character and the winery’s collaborative, terroir-forward approach.
