NV Marietta - Old Vine Red Lot #75
Marietta Old Vine Red Lot 75 captures the winery’s defining California red blend sensibility in a single, meticulously crafted bottle. Lot 75 is the 75th release since the wine’s inception, built predominantly around Zinfandel and completed with Syrah and Petite Sirah, plus smaller amounts of Barbera, Grenache, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. This is the concept Marietta helped pioneer—blending across multiple years to preserve a consistent house style rather than chase vintage variation.
From its color to its aroma and palate, Lot 75 speaks to a heritage of field-blend influences. The wine presents a medium ruby-purple hue with fragrant notes of red and black plum, raspberry candy, and floral potpourri. On the palate, it remains medium-bodied, rounded and bright, layered with earthy fruit notes and a softly spiced finish that invites another sip rather than a final verdict.
Terroir and winemaking details add depth to the experience. Marietta’s Old Vine Red is produced from the estate’s organically farmed vines across Alexander Valley, McDowell Valley, and Yorkville Highlands, totaling roughly 310 acres. The Lot-based approach mirrors the old Sonoma and Mendocino field blends that inspired this project, blending juice and wine from multiple years to keep the distinctive house character intact year after year.
Food pairing and serving suggestions help bring Lot 75 to life. It shines with roast pork, grilled sausages, or a simple margherita pizza, offering enough structure to meet a range of casual weeknight dinners or relaxed gatherings. For optimal enjoyment, decant for 15–20 minutes and serve slightly below room temperature to let the aromas unfold and the tannins soften gracefully.
