2020 Coquard Loison Fleurot - Vosne Romanee (750ml)
Domaine Coquard-Loison-Fleurot is a family estate now in its fifth generation, based in Flagey-Échézeaux and farming around nine hectares stretched from Vosne-Romanée to Gevrey-Chambertin. Today the domaine is guided by Claire Fleurot, who manages the business, and winemaker Thomas Colladot, whose approach blends traditional Burgundian technique with a more modern sensibility. Grapes are hand-harvested and fully destemmed, then fermented in open vats for twelve to fifteen days with daily punch-downs and pump-overs under careful temperature control.
This village-level Vosne-Romanée is assembled from several lieux-dits, including La Violette, Quartier de Nuits, Les Chalandins, and Basses Maizières. Thomas typically vinifies the parcels separately, using a meaningful share of whole clusters on the more structured La Violette fruit while leaving Quartier de Nuits fully destemmed, then blends the two soon after the wine moves into barrel, landing at roughly a fifth whole cluster overall.
The 2020 pours a vibrant purple and opens with a heady, perfumed nose of plum, wild black cherry, and a hint of sandalwood. The palate carries raspberry and strawberry fruit with supple tannins and lively acidity, showing more precision and lift than the riper, opulent style of the previous vintage, with Vosne's characteristic floral lift carrying through a long finish.
