Claudio Mariotto's family estate was founded in 1921 by his great-grandfather Bepi, with vineyards spread between Vho and Sarezzano in the hills of the Colli Tortonesi, at the foot of the Apennines facing the Po Valley. In the 1990s Mariotto was among the small group of growers who championed the revival of Timorasso, a native Piedmontese white grape that had nearly disappeared as local winemakers turned toward more familiar varieties. That early commitment helped establish Timorasso as one of Italy's most distinctive and age-worthy white wines.

Pitasso is one of Mariotto's signature single-vineyard bottlings, made from old vines grown on clay-limestone soils around Sarezzano at an elevation of roughly 250 to 300 meters, with yields kept low to concentrate character. The wine is fermented and aged for some months on its lees in stainless steel before resting further in bottle, an approach that favors the grape's natural structure and minerality over any influence from wood.

The wine shows a soft straw-yellow color and a deep, floral nose with warm fruit and honeyed notes. On the palate it is rich and full-bodied, layered with yellow fruit and spice, and carries excellent persistence and real potential to develop further with age.
