2022 Pousse d'Or - Chambolle Musigny (750ml)
Domaine de la Pousse d'Or is a storied Volnay estate in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, with holdings that extend into the Côte de Nuits as well. Patrick Landanger has directed the property since 1997, and his son Benoît joined him in the cellar in 2013, bringing the domaine's roughly seventeen hectares under a shared vision rooted in sustainable, low-yield viticulture. Their portfolio spans several grand and premier crus, including the estate's three Volnay monopoles, but this bottling is their sole entry from the village of Chambolle-Musigny.
Chambolle-Musigny sits on the eastern slopes of the Côte de Nuits, where thin limestone and marl soils over fractured bedrock give the appellation its characteristic perfume and finesse. The 2022 vintage produced ripe, healthy Pinot Noir while retaining freshness. Grapes were hand harvested and fermented with native yeasts, with partial whole-cluster inclusion and gentle extraction, then aged in French oak with only modest new wood.
The wine opens with ripe red cherry and raspberry, layered with baking spice, black tea, and a mineral undertone. The palate is silky and fine grained, medium bodied, with lifted acidity carrying the fruit through a long finish. It suits roast duck, grilled lamb, or a soft-ripened cheese.
