Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat was founded in 1962 by Alain Hudelot in the village of Chambolle-Musigny and has grown into one of Burgundy's most sought-after addresses. Since 2008 it has been run by Alain's grandson, Charles Van Canneyt, who continues the family's tradition of minimal cellar intervention and restrained use of new oak, aiming for wines defined by purity, finesse, and a clear sense of place.

Les Charmes sits on the Vougeot side of the village, close to the celebrated Les Amoureuses, and Hudelot-Noëllat's tiny 0.21-hectare parcel was planted in 1955 on ground bordering Les Feusselottes to the north. As with the rest of the domaine's range, the fruit receives careful, low-intervention handling in the cellar, with a modest portion of new barrels used during aging to let the vineyard's character come through undisturbed.

The wine shows cherry and raspberry fruit woven with vine smoke, orange zest, and warm spice. Medium to full bodied, it is lively and layered, carried by bright acidity and a velvety texture toward a long, saline finish, with a touch of white pepper adding lift. Pair it with grilled lamb loin, pan-seared duck breast, or a soft cow's-milk cheese.

91-93 Points
"The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes is more structured than the Petits Vougeots, exhibiting notes of cherries and raspberries mingled with vine smoke, orange zest and spices. Medium to full-bodied, lively and layered, with bright acids and a saline finish, it derives from a parcel to the north of the vineyard, touching Les Feusselottes."
