James Suckling called the 2023 exceptionally clear and transparent, showing blackberry, red berry, and cedar alongside violet and rose undertones, with a layer of crushed stone and chalk, medium to full-bodied with a caressing mouthfeel and dense, refined tannins. Wine Advocate found aromas of dark wild berries, flowers, and spice, subtly framed by toast, fleshy and ample with a lively core of fruit, powdery sweet tannins, and a long, perfumed finish. Vinous noted how elegant and polished Angélus has become in recent vintages, with floral top notes and bright acidity highlighting the estate's more refined modern style. A genuinely standout showing from Premier Grand Cru Classé A, now offered in the collector-favorite Magnum format.

96 Points
"Cocoa bean, liquorice, pomegranate, smoked earth, sage, anis, fennel, slate tannins, this combines nuanced and sinewy tannins with a generous supple expansion through the palate, building in power and impact. Beautifully fragrant, measured and skilful. 50% in foudres for Cabernet Franc, 50% new oak for the Merlot. Harvest September 14 through to October 1, Benjamin Laforest winemaker, Stephane de Boüard-Rivoal owner."
