Capo Martino takes its name from a hill purchased by Silvio Jermann in 1991 in the municipality of Dolegna del Collio — a 7.5-hectare single-vineyard site planted to the indigenous varieties his father Angelo once blended in the traditional Friulian manner. The vines root in ponca, the region's signature alternation of marl and sandstone, prized for imparting deep minerality. In the cellar, the must undergoes a brief skin maceration, then ferments and ages in oak barrels for about ten months before being released two years after harvest.

The 2023 is a standout vintage. Despite a rainy spring and heavy mildew pressure, the vintage produced surprisingly well-balanced wines marked by superb minerality. The 2023 Capo Martino combines Malvasia and Ribolla Gialla in a strikingly aromatic wine with honeysuckle and white flowers, dried lemon, and Korean pear. Medium-bodied, with a taut palate and tangy, vivid finish, it captures the region's typical energy without sacrificing fruit complexity.

93 Points
"The Jermann 2023 Capo Martino is a blend of Friulano, Ribolla Gialla and Malvasia that represents a classic Friulian white trio, presented here in screw cap and opening to rich aromas of preserved lemon, orange, honeycomb, dried sage and yellow rose. You get beautiful complexity followed by spice and dusty mineral tones, with an edgy, sharp profile that concludes on a firm note. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in the same tonneaux and Slavonian oak botti (20 to 22 hectoliters) used for its 11 months of aging with lees stirring, this wine comes from a single seven-hectare vineyard with 32-year-old vines planted between 110 and 160 meters above sea level."
