La Spinetta's longtime entry point into serious Barbera, sourced from 45 to 49-year-old organically farmed vines across 18 parcels in the Castagnole and Costigliole zones, including the Bionzo vineyard. Fermented in temperature-controlled roto-fermenters, aged 12 months in partly new, partly used medium-toast French oak, then another 12 months between stainless steel and bottle before release. Expect an opaque red-magenta hue with ripe, seductive aromas of blueberry, black cherry, candied violet, lavender, and mocha, moving into a medium to full-bodied palate with vibrant acidity, silky tannins, and a generous finish. A longtime magazine "Best Value" pick and a genuine showcase for how good entry-level Barbera d'Asti can be.

Region: Asti, Piedmont, Italy
Producer: La Spinetta (Giorgio Rivetti)
Cuvée: Ca' di Pian
Grape: Barbera (100%)
Vintage: 2023

"The 2023 Barbera D'Asti Superiore Ca' Di Pian pours an opaque red/magenta hue and is sourced from a blend of 18 vineyards across three zones. Aromatically, it’s ripe and seductive, with preserved blackberries, candied violets, blue fruit, sweet herbs, and mocha. Medium to full-bodied, it offers vibrant acidity with supple, silky tannins and a generous finish. This overdelivers for the price. 70,000 bottles were produced. Drink 2026-2032."
