2025 Vajra, G.D. - Langhe Nebbiolo DOC (750ml)
The Vajra family has farmed Bricco delle Viole, the highest cru in the Barolo commune, since the 1880s, and this Langhe bottling offers an accessible, earlier-drinking expression of the same Nebbiolo that anchors their acclaimed Barolo. The estate sits in Vergne, the highest village in Barolo, at up to 400 meters altitude, farmed organically since 1971 under Aldo Vajra. The 2025 shows a lively garnet hue with a nose of wild strawberry, red cherry, raspberry, and goji berry, layered with delicate florals and subtle spice. Crunchy and vibrant on the palate, with juicy red fruit woven into a well-defined tannic frame, finishing long, perfumed, and gourmand. A genuine window into what Nebbiolo can do outside the more austere, tannic register of Barolo itself.
