Mazzetti d'Altavilla has distilled grape marc from Piedmont's most respected vineyards since 1846, making it one of Italy's oldest continuously operating grappa houses. The family-run distillery, now guided by its seventh generation, is based in Altavilla Monferrato in the heart of Piedmont's hills, where it works with pomace from fifteen distinct local vineyards, keeping each variety separate to preserve its individual character rather than blending for uniformity.

This grappa is distilled from Moscato pomace, an aromatic white grape of ancient Piedmontese origin often associated with the Canelli area. Unlike the estate's barrel-aged Moscato bottling, this version is produced in the classic young style, bottled clear and unaged so the grape's natural perfume and freshness remain fully intact. The gentle distillation process is designed to capture the fragile aromatics of Moscato without the influence of wood, resulting in a lighter, more immediate expression of the variety.

The nose is intense and round, true to the character of the grape, while the palate is balanced and aromatic, showing a lively mix of florals, fruit, and herbs, including sage, rose, violet, and ripe peach. It finishes clean and fragrant, best served chilled to highlight its floral lift.
