Mazzetti d'Altavilla was founded by Filippo Mazzetti and has remained in family hands for seven generations, making it one of Italy's oldest and most respected distilleries. Based in Altavilla Monferrato, in the heart of Piedmont near the truffle town of Alba, the estate blends artisanal tradition with modern know-how, placing particular emphasis on sourcing quality pomace and overseeing every stage of aging with care.

This grappa is distilled from Moscato pomace using discontinuous copper stills heated indirectly by steam, a gentle method chosen to protect the grape's naturally intense, musk-like aromatics. Rather than being bottled young and clear, it rests for twelve to thirty-six months in Allier oak barrels, a slower aging process that softens the spirit's edges and layers in the character of the wood. The finished grappa is bottled at 43% alcohol by volume, taking on a delicate golden hue from its time in barrel.

The result is round, balanced, and aromatic, with an intriguing mix of florals, fruit, and herbs, including notes of rose, violet, sage, and ripe peach woven through a base of honeyed sweetness. Serve at cellar temperature in a proper grappa glass to let the aromatics fully open.

"Due to its intense bouquet and overly sweet aroma, the grape was associated with muscum (musk) in ancient times. The Moscato grape was then dried to concentrate a few drops of pure enjoyment that even honey could not take on. So, imagine the explosion of intense flavors in the Grappa di Moscato and imagine how its gentleness, through careful and balanced aging, can produce even more lovable notes."
