2018 Domaine de Montille - Volnay Champans (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]

Champans is one of Volnay's largest and most celebrated premier crus, a steep slope where limestone at the top gives way to clay and reddish soil below. Domaine de Montille's 2018 was made with 50% whole clusters and shows a floral, wilted-rose-petal bouquet layered over red fruit, more perfumed than the estate's Mitans bottling. The palate is well-balanced and tannic on the entry, closing on a brisk, terse finish with a distinct saline edge — a firm, savory, grippy style of Volnay built for the long haul rather than early drinking.
