2023 Willful Wine Company - Pinot Noir Oregon Jezebel (750ml)
Willful Wine Company was formerly known as Daedalus Cellars before rebranding, and remains led by owner and winemaker Pam Walden, whose independent spirit gives the winery its name. Walden ferments her Oregon grapes with native, wild yeasts to capture a fuller expression of the fruit and terroir, and generally favors a light hand with new oak so the Pinot Noir stays elegant and food friendly. Jezebel is the label's easygoing, everyday sister line, built to be accessible and approachable rather than a serious cellar wine.
The 2023 Jezebel Pinot Noir is a blend sourced from several Oregon vineyards and clones across the Willamette Valley and Southern Oregon. The wine was fermented in small lots using a mix of yeasts selected to highlight the fruit, then aged with about eighty percent going into neutral French oak and the remainder resting in stainless steel to preserve freshness. This combination keeps the wine bright and ready to enjoy in its youth rather than built for long aging.
The wine shows bright red fruit flavors with a supple, medium weight texture and an easy, approachable finish. Its balanced structure and versatility make it a natural match for the table rather than a wine to overthink. It pairs especially well with roast chicken, grilled pork, or a simple mushroom pasta.
