NV Jansz - Pinot Noir Tasmania Premium Rose
Jansz Tasmania has been dedicated to sparkling winemaking since 1986, drawing fruit from some of the island's premier cool-climate sites, including Pipers River, the Tamar Valley, and the Coal River Valley. The estate is currently guided by winemaker Jennifer Doyle, who spent years scouting increasingly cool sites across Australia before settling in southern Tasmania to focus on traditional method sparkling wine.
This non-vintage rosé is a blend led by Pinot Noir, rounded out with Chardonnay and a small portion of Pinot Meunier, all hand-picked and gently whole-bunch pressed. Fermentation takes place at cool temperatures, followed by full malolactic fermentation and a complex assemblage. The wine undergoes an extended second fermentation in bottle, resting on lees for roughly eighteen months before disgorgement, a process known locally as Méthode Tasmanoise, giving the wine its fine, persistent bead.
In the glass this rosé shows a pale salmon-pink hue with a steady stream of fine bubbles. Aromas of strawberry, redcurrant, and rose petal mingle with hints of brioche and citrus peel. The palate is creamy yet lively, with bright acidity carrying through to a dry, refreshing finish. It makes a natural match for smoked salmon, fresh oysters, or lightly spiced Asian dishes.
