Quinta da Raza sits in the Basto sub-region of Vinho Verde, on land distinguished by an unusual mix of granite, schist, and clay soils not typical of the wider region. The estate has stayed in the same family since the 17th century, and current owner Diogo Teixeira Coelho continues that legacy while blending modern winemaking technology with traditional methods. Coelho played a key role in saving the Padeiro grape from near extinction, replanting it in the late 20th century after decades of decline due to its pale must, a challenge for a variety originally intended for red wine production.

This rosé is made entirely from Padeiro, a rare grape native to the Basto sub-region formerly known as Padeiro de Basto. Despite giving relatively little color for a red grape, Padeiro proved ideal for rosé production once growers recognized its aromatic potential, and the variety has since undergone a strong revival at the estate. The wine ferments in stainless steel to preserve its natural freshness and the light effervescence characteristic of Vinho Verde.

Bright strawberry pink in the glass, this wine bursts with raspberry and wild strawberry aromas that carry through to a juicy, gently sparkling palate. Its low alcohol and lively acidity make it especially food friendly, particularly alongside grilled shrimp, cured meats, or light seafood appetizers.
