Maynard's carries the name of Walter Maynard, a 17th century English wine merchant who shipped Port as far back as 1652 and later served as consul in Oporto under King Charles II. The brand descends through generations of marriage into the van Zeller family, historic Douro producers once tied to Quinta do Noval, and today Maynard's Port is produced by Barão de Vilar under the direction of Álvaro van Zeller.

This 30 Year Old Tawny is a blend of Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, and Tinta Barroca, vinified with a brief pre-fermentative maceration in stainless steel before fortification arrests the process. The finished wine represents a careful selection of the house's oldest Port batches, aged in French oak casks to an average of three decades, drawing out layers of concentration and structure well beyond what younger tawnies can achieve.

The wine shows a deep golden color with copper hues, its aroma built on hazelnut and vanilla alongside notes of dried fruit and old polished wood. On the palate it turns silky and rich, with honey, chocolate, and toffee balanced by bright acidity through an elegant, long finish. Serve slightly chilled as an aperitif, or pour alongside dark chocolate and dried fruit.
