2022 Coquard Loison Fleurot - Vosne Romanee (750ml)

Domaine Coquard Loison Fleurot, based in Flagey-Échezeaux, sold its grapes to négociants for generations before the family began estate bottling in the early 2010s. Winemaker Thomas Colladot now shapes the house style with long macerations and measured whole-cluster fermentation, while commercial director Claire Fleurot has carried the wines into international markets. The domaine farms around nine hectares across a dozen appellations, including six grand cru sites.

This village-level Vosne-Romanée is assembled from several prized lieux-dits, including Les Violettes, Quartiers de Nuits, and Basses Maizières. Grapes are hand harvested and sorted, with a portion of whole clusters, typically twenty to forty percent, included in the ferment. Vinification favors an extended, gentle maceration to build color and aromatic depth. The wine then ages around eighteen months in French oak before bottling with minimal handling.

The nose is classic Vosne, radiant with wild cherry, red berries, rose petal, and a touch of exotic spice. The palate carries that same lifted fruit in a seamless, silky texture, with fine tannins and bright acidity through a long finish. Still youthful, it suits herb-roasted chicken or pork tenderloin now, and will only gain complexity with a few years in the cellar.
